we're going to charleston!
Our anniversary trip is finally booked, y'all! Scott and I are going to Charleston, South Carolina! We're crazy excited and cannot wait to spend a week exploring its quaint neighbourhoods, plantations (especially this one), Waterfront Park and the historic City Market. The trip will be so romantic and a much needed shot in the arm after our seven month long winter. Oh, and the food! Just thinking about the delicious things we're going to eat is enough to keep me from sleeping for the next two weeks.
We're staying at the charming Zero George - a boutique hotel recently named to Travel + Leisure's It List: The Best New Hotels. Usually, we're not too fussy about where we stay as long as it's clean, comfortable and not too spendy, but this is our 10th anniversary getaway so we decided to splurge. I'm looking forward to drinking sweet tea on that gorgeous veranda (:
Have you ever been to Charleston? Any advice on what to see, do and eat? We'd love to hear! Thank you so much for any tips!
p.s. Charleston has been on my mind since February. Grazie to everyone who weighed in way back then!

Ohhhhh!!! I can just see myself there right now. Gorgeous!!! Great trip for your 10 anniversary. Congrats to you and the hubby!! Last time I went to Charleston was when I was a child. So, I can't be of any help on suggestions, but Dyan (@passionfoodie) probably knows some great spots. I will tell her to email you. Look forward to photos when you get back. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jennifer! We're both SO excited to celebrate our 10th anniversary in such a beautiful place. I've been following a few people from Charleston on instagram and their pictures are out of this world. Social media sure has changed how you can research and plan for a trip, hasn't it.
DeleteAnd thanks for the suggestion of chatting with Dyan. She's been really helpful (:
That's so exciting!!!!

I'm having trouble sleeping from the excitement, Courtney! I feel like the kid who just found out they're going to Disneyland (:
DeleteMamma mia Dajana! This place is so cool. A few years ago I went to North Carolina and thought one day I must visit South. Can't wait to see more pictures of it on instagram, too. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Alice! It's our first time travelling to the southern part of the States and we're both super excited. I'll be sure to post heaps of food and architecture pictures on instagram. Stay tuned!
Deletep.s. Mamma mia is the perfect interjection! I'm going to start using it (:
I haven't been but want to go now, looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't exactly on my radar either Cheryl, that is, until I came across the Condé Nast Traveler 2012 Readers' Choice Awards which named Charleston Top Destination in the World. That's when I realized it'd be a great place to spend our anniversary.
Deletep.s. I'll be posting heaps of pics on instagram (:
How exciting! You will love it:)
ReplyDeleteSuper duper excited, Kristin! Neither Scott nor I have visited any of the southern states so it'll be an adventure for both of us. Can't wait to try shrimp & grits!
DeleteHow exciting. I used to live in Virginia and the south is sooo charming! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Barbara! I'm hoping to soak up as much of that southern charm as possible!
ReplyDeletep.s. Living in Virginia must have been a cool experience for you. The east coast is beautiful!
