new york bound!

We're going to New York, lovelies.

To say that I’m excited would be the understatement of the year. I can’t wait to wander the city that never sleeps with my beau.

NYC street sceneNYC books

Here are some of the places we’d like to visit.  If you have any other suggestions, I’d love to hear them!

+ Central Park (bike ride, anyone?)
+ MOMA & The Met
+ Madison Square Eats (foodie fest!)
+ Big Gay Ice Cream (I'm dying to try the Bea Arthur or Mexican affo’gay’to)
+ Momofuku (winner winner chicken dinner)
+ Red Rooster (hel-lo Harlem!)
+ Chelsea Market (more foodie fun)
+ Madewell, Uniqlo, Pippin and Anthro (a girl’s gotta shop, right?)
+ Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island
+ Top of the Rock/Rainbow Room (both offer a lovely vantage point of the city)

We’ll be hoofing and subway’ing it throughout our stay – we’ve heard that the subway offers the BEST people-watching and more cultural immersion than the United Nations. (:

Ciao for now!

p.s. I've memorized this in anticipation of our trip.

  1. Staten Island Ferry! It's cheap, relaxing, non-touristy, and offers great views of the city as you move across the water toward Staten Island.

    1. Doesn't Big Gay Ice Cream have the best names for their cones, Rachel!?

We went to Momofuku and had their fried chicken dinner. It was a foodie's dream. Sticky, sweet & spicy bird! We didn't get a chance to try Bouchon but we did stop at the charming little Vesuvio Bakery in SoHo and Mille-feuille Bakery in Greenwich Village. Delish!

p.s. I checked out your blog and see that we have a love for many of the same things, namely: food, Anthro & salted caramel. Yeah!

  3. Absolutely make a visit to Saint Paul's Chapel (Ground Zero) - it is a life changing experience you won't soon forget... And there's also KATZ Deli where the famous scene in WHEN HARRY MET SALLY was shot - go with an appetite, because the servings are huge! Have fun! Actually, how can you not? It's New York!!!

    1. St. Paul's Chapel was amazing, Sheila. Thanks for the suggestion!

We didn't stop at Katz' Deli but our friends, who were travelling with ys, did and they loved it. Said the sammies were melt in your mouth delicious.

  4. How exciting! I took my brother to NY a couple of years ago for his graduation gift. We were only there for a few days but we had a blast! I don't have many specific recommendations - of course MoMA is fabulous, the anthropologie stores are huge, and visiting the empire state building at night is really cool (it's open pretty late). I can't wait to hear all about it!

    1. You're a super star of a sister, Kristin! NYC as a graduation gift! Wowee. (:

We had such a fantastic time in NY - we ate ( A LOT), saw, shopped and laughed. MoMA's art was breathtaking & the Anthro stores were fantastic. Can't wait to go back! There's so much more left to do.

    1. You and me both, Shannon. We saw the Brooklyn Bridge while we were on the Staten Island Ferry but we didn't walk across it. Next time! It's such a crazy and magical city - there has to be a next time.

    1. Thanks, Morgan! We had a blast on our trip. NY is a city you have to experience at least once in your lifetime. It's so cool that your experience was during Valentine's Day. (:
